How Do I Clean the LED Head on an Okidata Black Toner Cartridge?
The black toner cartridge in your Okidata printer contains a host of components that make the printer function correctly including sensors, doors and flaps. The main flap on the cartridge comes in contact with the LED head which helps transfer the toner onto the paper during printing. Over time, ink and debris builds up on the LED head and can result in printouts that are not clear and contain white lines. The LED head should be cleaned each time the black toner cartridge or imaging drum is replaced. Turn off the printer if it is on. Open the printer’s top cover by pressing the cover release button on the front of the printer. Pour 1 tbsp. of isopropyl alcohol onto a soft, lint free cloth. Locate the LED heads on the printer’s top cover. The black LED head is the uppermost LED head. Wipe the top LED head gently with the alcohol-soaked cloth. Let the LED head air dry before closing the top cover.
