How do I clean the gunk out of my washing machine detergent drawer?
Yes annoying isn,t it,then after washing out the drawer put your machine on the hottest wash possible with nothing in and no detergent and do a wash cycle. This should really be done regularly to clean out all the residue in the pipes.Same as with the dishwasher. After one of these rinses you will find that the machine is fab again.
Remove the drawer, spray with dettol and leave to stand for about 30 mins. Spray dettol into the drawer void, leave for about 10 mins and then if possible use a steam cleaner with an extension nozzle to get rid of the gunge. Rinse off the drawer or if possible steam it, put it back into the machine then add one cupfull of limescale remover to the detergent drawer sharing it out between the pre-wash, wash and the fabric softener areas then put the machine onto the 90deg wash and you should have a sparkling clean machine when the cycle is finished.
yep it is disgusting stuff – you should be able to pull the drawer out and notice a small clip that prevents it being pulled out fully push the clip down and pull the drawer at the same time it should pop out quite freely then you may need to soak it in warm soapy water and also wash the surrounding area in the machine with a cloth or small brush – in future use washing tablets that go in with the clothes that way only clean water gets washed through the drawer and it keeps cleaner longer
