How do I clean paint out of plush carpet?
ScrubbingLet the paint dry completely so that you do not smear it deeper into the carpet. Scrape the dried paint up and out of the carpet with a butter knife, either plastic or metal, and vacuum the bits of dried paint out of the carpet. Mix equal parts laundry detergent and warm water in a basin. Using a wash cloth, scrub the stained carpet. Rinse the cloth in a separate basin of warm water, and repeat this process until the stain is removed and the detergent stops foaming.Removal WipesUse paint removal wipes sold at home improvement stores. These should not discolor carpets, but you may want to test in an inconspicuous place in your carpet to be sure.TrimmingTrim the carpet fibers from which you cannot remove paint, but only as a last resort.
