How do I clean inside of a crystal whisky decanter?
First of all, you should be aware that storing any alcohol in a crystal decanter is now known to be unhealthy due to potential lead leaching from the glass. Use it for the evening of guests only. One of the very best cleaning solutions (and natural) is a combination of baking soda and vinegar. Simply pour a couple of teaspoons of the soda into the decanter, then about half a cup of vinegar (it will bubble up). Swish around several times over an hour, discard and rinse thoroughly. (Also works to remove protein from stainless pots and pans.) I have about 20 cyrstal decanters — they’re all very clean and very empty!
