Old Redneck Trapper Method…..Put it on an ant hill and cover with something to keep the sun and other critters off of it for 2 to 3 weeks until all meat is eaten (real stinky). Or cook it and carve all the meat out. Then put it in a 5 gallon bucket with 2 cups Borax powder, two cups salt, one large box of baking soda, and enough water to cover the entire shell. Let soak for 4 hours. Rinse and dry for one day. Put back into the bucket with 1 gallon vinegar and enough water to cover the entire shell. Soak for 24 hours. Rinse real good. Put it in an old gas grill with the cover closed and leave in full sun for 2 weeks. Then paint extra thick the entire top and bottom shell inside and out with poly urethane. It will be a beauty with out having to use the dangerous chemicals.
