How do I clean and cure Griswold collector cast iron skillets?
CuringPreheat the oven to 300 degrees F. Set the Griswold pan on a stove burner over high heat. Once warm to the touch, coat the inside with vegetable oil. Use a wadded up paper towel to spread the oil. Pour off any excess oil. Wipe the surface of the pan using another paper towel. Hold the towel with a pair of tongs. Heat the pan in the oven for 1 hour. Remove the pan using oven pads and allow to cool.CleaningPreserve the cure on your Griswold pan by avoiding soaps when cleaning. Pour approximately 2 tbsp. of salt into the pan. Scrub the pan vigorously with a paper towel, using the salt as an abrasive. Rinse out the pan, dry thoroughly and store.
