Many soccer leagues have different size requirements for their specific uses. Be sure to check with your coach or coordinator for the size ball they are using. Generally, soccer balls come in three sizes. Size 3 balls are the smallest balls. These are typically used by children under the age of 8. They are 23-24 inches in circumference and weigh 11-12 ounces. Size 4 balls are used by players between 8 and 12. These slightly larger balls have a circumference of 25-26 inches and weigh 12-13 ounces. Size 5 balls are the most commonly used ball. They are found in all levels of adult play both recreational and professional, as well as in children’s leagues 12 and over. The largest of the three sizes, a size 5 ball has a circumference of 27-28 inches and weighs between 14 and 16 ounces.
