How do I check the reputation of a paralegal training school?
First and foremost, be wary of paralegal programs not sanctioned by the American Bar Association (ABA). Most reputable law firms mandate that their paralegals have their certificate from an ABA accredited program. You are wise in looking into the school to make sure that it’s a solid program that will only improve your ability to secure a good job afterward. (I suggest that you talk to their counselor and get the names and contact information of alumni who are willing to talk to candidates. Or, ask them for a list of employers who’ve hired their alumni — often, employers will call paralegal programs when they have positions open.) Good luck!
