How do I change the shutter speed on my digital camera?

You cannot manually change your shutter speed because the T831 is a simple point & shoot camera. The only option I see is for you to use one of the Scene modes (your camera has 21 of them). For example…if you use the ‘Sports’ setting, the camera will apply a faster shutter speed to freeze action (this will work best in good outdoor light) and the ‘Pets’ setting might also apply a faster shutter speed because they’re hard to keep still. If you want to use a longer exposure (slower shutter speed) you will need to use something like the ‘Fireworks’, ‘Nightscene’ or ‘Candlelight’ setting and mount your camera on a tripod (or place it on a stable surface) and use the self-timer option to prevent camera movement or shake during the exposure. The ‘Sunset’ and ‘Sunrise’ settings will probably also use a slightly slower shutter speed. So, I recommend that you explore all of your camera’s Scene modes…
