How do I change the humidity of my leopard geckos tank?
Do not mist the cage! Leopard geckos need fairly dry air, misting the entire cage forces them to live in conditions they do not want, and would cause health problems as a result. Also, wetting the substrate may cause mold growth, depending on the materiel. You can provide them with a humid hide to raise humidity. You can use anything disclosed enough. I used to cut out an enterance hole in a closed tuppleware container. Line it with with moss you buy at a pet store or just paper towels, and mist once or twice each day. Keep it on the hot side of the tank. Also provide two more non-humid hides, one on the hot side, and one on the cool. Leoprad geckos really only need humidity when shedding, but you can keep the hide in the tank al lthe time. They need a bowl of water constantly. This does add to the humidity level, but not too much. Water is all you really need on a regular basis.
