How Do I Change The Default Character Spacing In Outlook E-Mail?

My e-mail text is all double spaced. I can change the spacing in each individual message manually, but I can’t figure out how to set the default spacing for all messages to “single” space. The “Mail format” under “options” doesn’t get me anywhere.
