Hello, I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. You need to remove the bottom plate of the vacuum and then lift up the pulley side of the brushroll and then take off the old belt and install the new belt the replace the brushroll. Then take a belt puller or a screwdriver with a bend on the end and pull the belt onto the motor pulley and then track the belt in a straight line. If you have a problem with the belt change then refer to your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone n
If its an all floors model, as mine is you need to remove the cover and brush, then remove the bottom hose. Unclip the plastic piece which the brush was in. Then you see a black plastic cover where the belt either was or still is. this has three torx screws in (Tx15)two at the front one very deep at the rear. once this is removed, My ‘all floors’ model has a knob for switching the brush on and off, prize this off with a screwdriver, then lever the clutch assembly up whilst pulling forward away from the machine, it’s a tight fit but just pops out. I have done this on mine as the clutch to brush belt has snapped, then I dissassembled the clutch itself and searched the net for a new belt, only to find that the belt isnt available on its own! Maybe Dyson feel we aren’t capable of doing this procedure? So as a result I now have to buy the whole clutch assembly with belt already on! Instead of £3-£5 I now have to spend £16-£20 just for a belt! Oh well Its a damn good Vacuum cleaner so I suppo
Solution #1 posted on Sep 22, 2008 andrew1872 the dyson uses two belts, one from the motor to a clutch and then from the clutch to the brush roller, the belts that they use are not much better then any other belt ( those you should change yearly ) but you cant just change the belts you have to change the entire clutch assembly itself ( you can get it at sears ) but it is not an easy job you might want to take it to a repair center.
