How Do I change my wireless router security settings to WEP?
Any time I’ve had to change my wireless router settings, I called Linksys and got a tech to help me. They get paid to do that and have a lot more knowledge about what they are doing. I don’t know what equipment you have, but they all will have an 800 number you can call. I am curious, though, as to why you would go to WEP settings. That’s the most insecure setting there is. Anyone can ping your network and get to it if you use WEP. But, it’s your wireless.
Change to WEP from what? I wouldn’t recommend WEP, use WPA instead if your connecting devices support it. WEP can be cracked in about 5 minutes if someone has the desire to do so. That being said, WEP is better than no security at all. You change the security settings by logging into your router. On most routers that will be by going to http://192.168.1.1 or http:/192.168.0.1 If this is a linksys router, the default password will be “admin” without the quotes. If it is a different router, do a quick google on default password and your router make/model you will find it easily.
