Once you’re married, you take the license back to the court for filling. You get an official copy. At this point, you are officially entitled to use your married name. You then go to the Social Security Office and apply for a new card. It will take about 2 weeks to come in. Once oyu get your new SS card, you go to the DMV to change your driver;s license. As soon as you assume your married name, you can change your name on credit cards, doctor’s, insurance, etc usually by just calling them or some may require a photocopy of your marriage license.
