How do I care for my hand dyed prefolds or flats?
We use non-toxic and colorfast professional Procion dyes which become part of the fabric and will not fade or bleed. All of our dyed prefolds and flats have already been washed and dried prior to arriving at your home. They only need an additional wash before use if you have a specific detergent in your cloth diapering routine. I use Tide Free and Clear in my home and have washed your diapers in this detergent. Why don’t you use all natural dyes? I have considered using natural dyes, but in my research and experience I have discovered that natural dyes aren’t necessarily better for the environment. Natural dyeing often requires more water and energy and uses chemical mordants that can be dangerous to the dyer and the environment. I feel confident that the dyes I use are the most environmentally responsible option. In addition, they are safe for me to work with and for you and your loved ones to wear.
