How do I care for may newly planted Amaryllis Bulb and Pot?
– The bulb was planted by us in a 50-50 mix of peat moss and potting soil. You need to soak it the first watering until you see water coming out of the bottom of the pot on to the plate. The planter will take what it needs and discard the rest, so you really cant over water at this point. Your next scheduled watering depends on the progress of the amaryllis. As soon as you see buds for the flowers, you will want to give it another shot of water (1 to 1 cups). Thats it. Once the flowers die off you may cut back the flower stems to the top of the bulb. Do not cut back the foliage, these need to turn brown before you can cut them back. The bulb needs to feed back off of this foliage, very important not to cut it early. Once this is complete, you may cut back the dead foliage to the top of the bulb and remove the bulb from the pot.
