How do i calculate the linear velocity given the angular acceleration, radius, and time?
Hello DoorKnocker, There are angular motion equations that are just like the regular motion equations. You just substitute angular variables, Acceleration becomes angular acceleration Velocity becomes angular velocity Mass becomes moment of Inertia Distance traveled becomes angle moved Time stays as time. Then you need a relationship to connect the angular equations and the regular motion equations. This is v = w*r. Tangential velocity equals rotational velocity times radius. We need to find the final angular velocity first and use v = w*r to convert it to translational motion. If you have : Angular accelaration (a) = 30.5 rad/sec Initial Angular Velocity (wi) = 0 m/s Time (t)= 9.0 sec Final Angular Velocity (wf) = Unknown. Three knowns (from this list: a, wi, wf, t, angle) and you can solve for the other two. Check out this webpage http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motion_equa… At the top are the five regular equatio
