How do i buff out scratches and paint from another car off of my car?
First, try a buffer. That won’t be expensive if you already have an electric drill or electric screw driver. Just buy a buffer attachment. If that doesn’t work, buy a product called “rubbing compound” at the auto parts store. There are several brands. The store clerk will advise. That product is a mild abrasive. It will take out scratches that are not too deep. But here’s the downside. If a buffer won’t work, the scratches are deeper than the top transparent layer of paint. The rubbing compound will remove the top layer or two and the scratches along with them. That leave the color coats in good shape and you won’t be able to see any difference. But you will have removed one or two coats of clear paint. That’s probably OK, but there is a risk that the unprotected paint will eventually change color due to fading or oxidation. That will take years and might not happen, but if you don’t want to take that chance, you should have the clear coat replaced. And that is best done by a paint sho
