i work for a ford dealer and what i do is to raise the front wheels, turn the steering wheel lock to lock, which means spin the steering wheel till it stops one way then go back till it stops the other way do this 4 times and leave for 2 mins and check the fluid level it will have droped ,start the engine up and see if the steering is now ok and the gear change.best of luck mate if not work contact a dealer and get them to recover the car dont drive it to them.
