How do I become a teaching assistant at UofT?

0

All hiring of teaching assistants at UofT is done internally by individual departments. Most graduate departments at the University of Toronto offer new students a teaching assistantship when they are accepted into the department. This is not always the case, however, and no department is required to offer TAships to its students. If you are a graduate student currently enrolled at UofT who is interested in TAing in your department, the best place to start is by asking the Undergraduate Chair or Graduate Chair of your department. They will let you know what opportunities exist for working as a teaching assistant in your department. On rare occasions, undergraduate students can be hired to TA certain courses, but only in a handful of departments. Again, check with your Undergraduate Chair to see whether or not you are eligible for any positions.
