How do I become a councillor?
The Barking and Dagenham has 51 Councillors representing 17 wards, who have been chosen at elections held every 4 years and at by-elections, which are held in the event of a Councillor no longer being able to hold office. Councillors represent the views of people like you, and come from your local community. Anyone can be elected as a councillor whether or not they belong to a political party.
