How do I award pay rises to employees on Statutory Maternity Pay?

If a pay rise is awarded that would affect a woman who is on maternity leave, or is about to start maternity leave, her Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP) must be altered. You need to increase the earnings-related part (which is 6 weeks for most women but for some will be 26 weeks) to take account of that pay rise. If the AWE (Average Weekly Earnings) used to calculate Statutory Maternity/Paternity Pay is wrong or requires change, and the SMP payments have not yet begun, you can change the AWE by clicking the ‘Previous Info button’ on the Statutory Pay Info tab of the respective employees’ setup. If you have already started paying SMP, you will need to manually adjust the calculated amounts on the respective payments.
