How do I, as an INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGIST, perform a THYROID BIOPSY?
I am an INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGIST. My skills are uniquely suited to performing THYROID BIOPSY safely, successfully, and without significant discomfort to the patient. I use a TEAM CONCEPT which emphasizes a PATIENT-CENTERED APPROACH. I perform THYROID BIOPSY as an OUTPATIENT procedure in both my private office and in the hospital setting. A single nodule THYROID BIOPSY takes about 15 minutes to perform. For multiple nodules up to 4 nodules in one visit, it could take up to 45 minutes. There is ALWAYS a PATHOLOGIST present for my THYROID BIOPY procedures. The PATHOLOGIST evaluates the THYROID BIOPSY specimen for adequacy. This collaboration between INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY and PATHOLOGY at the time of THYROID BIOPSY ensures a high success rate of the procedure.
