How do I apply to be a substitute teacher with York School DIstrict One ?
If you are interested in substituting, you must complete the Classified application. You will then have to attend an orientation session. At the orientation session, you will need to bring the following documents: Social Security card, driver’s license, and diploma (high school or college). To complete your requirements to substitute, you will need to have a tuberculin test. A South Carolina SLED check is conducted on each person prior to employment. Once we received your completed documents and all requirments have been met, your name will be added to the substitute list.
All substitute teachers must first have a clear background check before an application may be submitted. The background check form is available on the website or in the Human Resources Department. The background check costs $35, payable in cash or money order at the time the fingerprints are submitted. Appointments are necessary and may be made by calling Nelly Cervantes at (706) 876-4070. Once the background check is cleared (usually within 2 business days), a substitute application may be completed. Candidates must complete an approved substitute training course and attend a scheduled substitute orientation session before substitute assignments may be accepted.
