How do I apply for sheltered housing if I live outside Hillingdon?
To apply to be housed in Hillingdon from another authority you first have to approach the local authority for your area and apply to be referred to Hillingdon for housing under the H.O.M.E.S. (Housing Organisation Mobility and Exchange Services) scheme. You will need to complete an application form, which you will collect and return to your local authority and if you are accepted you will be referred to Hillingdon for rehousing. The Sheltered Housing Manager at Hillingdon will then arrange an appointment to assess the prospective tenant at an Area Housing Office. If the assessment is successful you will be placed on the waiting list, because you are not a resident of Hillingdon you will not have the same priority as existing residents and you could be offered harder to let sheltered properties which are often bed sits with shared bathing facilities.
