How do I apply for a Teaching Assistantship, Research Assistantship or Fellowship/Scholarship?
In order to be considered for a T.A. or R.A., you should submit a cover letter and resume with your application, indicating that you want to be considered for one of these positions. If you are accepted into graduate school, you may also want to contact the faculty concentration coordinator to discuss your qualifications. You can also review the T.A. and R.A. listings in the Beacon, our weekly publication, which is available on our home page at: Publications. There are a limited number of scholarships and fellowships available from the Graduate School and the School of Education . You should indicate in your personal statement that you wish to be considered for a scholarship or fellowship, as some need faculty endorsement. You can also check out Financial Aid > School of Ed Scholarships. If you are interested in applying for a student loan, you can contact the Graduate Financial Aid Office at: 413 577-0555 or grads@finaid.umass.edu.
