To apply for a permit from the Landmarks Preservation Commission, download an Application Form and Instructions for Filing from the Landmarks Commission’s website, or you can call 311 and ask for landmarks and historic preservation information to have an application mailed to you. Complete and sign the application form and include descriptive materials with your application that illustrate the existing conditions of the building and the proposed changes. Depending on the type of work proposed, the descriptive materials could include drawings, photographs and photomontages of street fronts, samples of proposed materials, and / or written specifications. You may mail or drop off your application to the Commission’s offices located at 1 Centre Street, 9th Floor North, in Manhattan.
