How do I allow a student into my class after the fifth day of the semester (Late Add)?
After the regular add period (5th day of the semester), a student must receive a Late Add in order to enroll in a course for the semester. These requests may be due to students being dropped from courses for financial reasons. Others will be students trying to circumvent the system (i.e. the student was denied an override, but is trying to get into the class anyhow). Instructors are responsible for making a determination as to whether a student should be added based on the criticalness of the situation and the student’s ability to catch up on missed material. Approval for a Late Add necessitates the instructor contacting Niki Rudolph (nrudolph@msu.edu) with the request. The email should include student name, PID, class and section requested. The Office of Academic and Student Affairs cannot process a request that takes a course enrollment past the established fire code capacity for the classroom.
