How Do I Adjust My CD-ROM On My Xbox?
The Xbox game console has a DVD/CD-ROM drive that is used to play game discs. The intensity of the laser inside the DVD drive is factory adjusted before the Xbox is sold, and can cause disc errors to occur occasionally if the intensity has been set outside of the normal range needed. While opening up the Xbox is not difficult to do, adjusting the laser potentiometer (or “pot”) is complicated and requires special tools. Only do this repair if you feel comfortable working inside of the Xbox and don’t want to wait for a repair to be done by a service center. Put the soft cloth down on a table. Remove all cables from the Xbox. Put the Xbox face down on the soft cloth. Scratch off all of the stickers from the bottom of the Xbox with the utility knife. Remove the rubber feet from the bottom using the utility knife. Remove all of the screws from the bottom of the Xbox, from under the rubber feet and under the stickers using the Torx screwdriver.
