You can do that after you install the Desktop software that came with the Blackberry Pearl. Previous versions of the Desktop manager software are not going to work with the Pearl. After you install the software, connect your BB to the computer using the USB cable and then the Desktop Manager will load; after it loads, you need to double click on the Media Icon on the Desktop Manager and a window with two sides will appear. The one on the left will have the contents of you local PC and the one on the right is the BB. Select files on the left of the screen and press the arrow pointing to the right and it will transfer the files to the BB and then you can open the Media icon on your BB and play the file.
