How do I acknowledge the use of the WERS 2004 data in publications?
Users are reminded that the undertaking which is given to the Data Archive prior to receiving data from WERS 2004 requires them to acknowledge the roles of both the original depositors and the Archive in any publication, whether printed, electronic or broadcast, based wholly or in part on WERS 2004 data. The suggested wording is as follows: “The author acknowledges the Department of Trade and Industry, the Economic and Social Research Council, the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service and the Policy Studies Institute as the originators of the 2004 Workplace Employment Relations Survey data, and the Data Archive at the University of Essex as the distributor of the data. The National Centre for Social Research was commissioned to conduct the survey fieldwork on behalf of the sponsors.
