Falas does not operate with the use of a monetary system. Rather the Falathrim enjoy a system of barter. For example, if that carpenter has a skill that you may need to make use of, you might trade him a poem, since you are a poet, in exchange for that work you need done. Similarly, if you needed some fish for tonight’s supper you might head down to the quay and find that the ships there, newly arrived from a recent fishing outing, are simply freely passing out fish to all citizens. It is not uncommon for such charities to take place. The business in Brithombar or Eglarest however, would likely deal more in trading goods back and forth for their goods or services. No Elf goes without in this culture, there are no such things as beggars on the streets of Brithombar or Eglarest and there are no such things as orphanages either. Should a child lose its parents to violence or accident and has no other family members to make a new home with, that child would simply be given to a new family
