How do I access the QuickTime General MIDI sounds in Digital Performer?
• Use the Apple Software Synth • Go to DP’s Setup menu > Interapplication MIDI • Check the box for “Software Synthesizer” • Select the resolution at which you’d like the sounds to render. If you’re just using the Quicktime GM sounds as a “scratch pad” or a quick reference, try the lower resolutions. • Go to Project > Add Track > MIDI Track. • Assign the output of this MIDI track to any of the 16 channels of “Apple Software Synth”. • You will hear this MIDI track’s output from the hardware device you have selected for “Default Output” under Audio MIDI Setup. If you don’t hear anything, go back to Setup menu > Interapplication MIDI and uncheck and re-check “Software Synthesizer”. • One advantage to this method is that you can use it while in DP’s MIDI Only mode. • Use the Apple DLSMusicDevice • Go to DP’s Project menu > Add Track > Instrument Track > Apple: DLSMusicDevice (stereo) • Assign this instrument track a valid stereo output bundle. • Go to Project > Add Track > MIDI Track. • Ass
