Remove Main Battery PackRemove the main battery pack. The CMOS battery is also called the Real Time Clock or RTC battery, and is a small coin-shaped round cell. It is located on the main system board inside the laptop case. With the computer off and the power cord disconnected, slide the door of the battery compartment door away from the laptop until it un-clips.Remove Palm Rest CoverUnscrew the four screws located on the bottom of the laptop case. Pull forward on the latches of the plastic case, and then lift up on the palm rest cover protecting the touch pad. Once the palm rest has been pulled out of the way, disconnect the touch pad flex cable.Remove Internal ComponentsWith the laptop case open, move the keyboard unit out of the way. Remove the two screws underneath the keyboard which hold the heat spreader in place, and move this component away. Disconnect the internal modem by removing the two screws that hold it in place.
