How do I access my “My Documents” folder after making my PC laptop hard drive an external drive?

on the external drive, it’s under documents and settings>your user name>my documents. Additional Details: right click on your user name and goto sharing and security>security tab. allow “full control” for yourself, then click ok. You need to be in an admin account to do this. Once you do that, you should be able to access the folder. Additional Details: If you don’t get the security tab, you need to disable simple file sharing. To do that, goto Windows explorer, tools menu>folder options>view tab. Scroll all the way down and UNcheck “Use simple file sharing”. Once you do that, then you’ll see the security tab. if your using windows OS, and you are able to access the external drive, go to that drive, then “Documents and Settings”, after that, find out first what is your “user name”. There is the All Users folder (for shared folders), Default User (in case you cant access your user name), and other user names that you program yourself (added custom setting of accounts) If you saw your user name, open it then go straight to “My Documents”.
