How do hurricanes, floods, and pollution affect the low lands of the Coastal Plain?
Roger Shew, a geology instructor in the Department of Earth Sciences at UNC-W will give an overview of the natural systems of this area including the Green Swamp, river basins, marshes, and barrier islands in his presentation, History and Hazzards of the NC Coastal Plain. He will also discuss the effects of weather and pollution on the animals, sea life, and humans along the beaches, barrier islands, and marshes of our area. Mr. Shew is the guest speaker for the Evening Lecture Series at the Museum of Coastal Carolina on Tuesday, October 12.
