How do hackers learn to hack?

0

Hackers come from a variety of backgrounds. Some have been formally trained and typically have a computer science degree of varying levels. For many who grew up in the dawning years of personal computing the only option was to be come a self taught “hacker”. Most kids or script kiddies may get some minor training in school but they are also self taught. We’ll have to get into the various definitions of “hacker” as everyone nearly always associates “hacker” with something bad. Another issue is defining what self taught really means since information from “friends” at certain ages is often misinformation at best. I have a “friend” who has a PhD in computer science and teaches at a well known area university. One of the classes that they teach is ethical hacking. While this is a step in the right direction, it surprised me that they weren’t using well known free tools for such classes. Which is just another example of why I have a low opinion of formal education in general. Self taught me
