How do graduate schools view the S/NC grading option?
Most students take classes S/NC to explore fields outside their concentrations, but take courses within their concentration for letter grades. Graduate schools are familiar with Brown and its grading policy, and Brown graduates have excellent acceptance rates into graduate schools: 85% are accepted into one of their top three medical schools, 94% into one of their top three law schools, and 97% into the top three business schools. About 30-35% of Brown grads go to grad school directly after they graduate; 60-65% within 5 years; 80-85% within 10 years.
