How do gas fired power stations work? ?
Gas fired power stations are very similar to coal fired power stations except they use gas as the fuel in the boiler instead of coal. The gas is burned in the boiler, heats water to create steam, steam rotates a turbine, turbine turns generator and electricity is produced. One of the main advantages of a gas fired station is that there is no dust produced in the flue gas and therefore does not need to be collected – normally in excess of 99% of dust is collected and has to be disposed. Disadvantahe of gas is most comes from abroad, increasingly so, and we can literally be held to ransom on price.
