How do film music composers ensure that thier music fits with the action on screen?
Well, they used to have to be incrdibly precise with their compositions. They woul dhave it down to the second and would cut things or lengthen time as needed. However, these days they can just write and play and if anything is off by a bit there is a special program that digitally stretches or shortens the music without distorting pitch, so it all lines up. Still, it’s not an easy task, especailly for movies like “Down With Love” where lots of little actions were punctuated by the music. It just takes a lot of knowledge and time.
