From the Kansas Grazing Lands Benchmark Inventory Worksheet, you will gather the evidence provided by the applicant, which identifies forage type, acres offered, type and/or class of livestock, number of animals, and their average weight. Depending upon the system they are currently in you may have multiple herds. You will also need to identify grazing periods. At this point you will need to run the soils inventory report which identifies the map units and acres being offered. Next, choose the Kansas Animal Unit Month Tool which best fits the forage type offered (see Note below). The Tools are located on the Kansas CSP Web Page under the 2008 CSP Tools for NRCS Employees. There will be three different tools available to use. (Rangeland, Fescue, and Brome) When populating the soils information in the tool of choice, it is suggested entering the information based upon offered acres.
