How do F1 engine mechanical engineers do it!?

Engines are just big air bumps. HP is how much air you can move through it. In Formula One they take a small motor and figure out how to rev to > 18,000 RPM. Take a look at most car tachometers. They rev to about 7K, give or take (9K for the older 2 liter Honda S2000). By getting their motor to work up to 18,000+ RPM they gain tremendous power, moving LOTS of air. Now you will also notice that they only have to make their engines last for TWO races. And some cars blow their engine early. Aside from the longevity issue, you also don’t get this sort of RPM in street cars because it costs too much. What does an F1 engine cost, over $200K? They also do not have our emissions controls, a higher noise limit, and fuel economy sucks!
