How do eTraining classes differ from traditional software training classes?
Traditional software training has taken the form of either an instructor in a physical classroom or self-paced materials the student works through independently. Self-paced materials have not eliminated live instruction because people sometimes have questions. Self-paced materials exist because taking a half or whole day away from work to travel to the instructor can be very inconvenient. eTraining combines the stay-at-your-desk convenience of self-paced materials with the responsiveness of live instruction. Traditional software has also focused on overviews of the application that take many hours to complete and cover so much material that it becomes likely that not all of it will be retained. eTraining focuses on specific aspects of the application as they apply to typical business tasks. The short duration of the class and immediate applicability to the work you actually need to do combine to significantly improve retention.
