How do emotions affect our perception and how can an extreme emotion change our reality?

Emotions affect our perception on a physiological level and a cognitive level. Physiologically our current emotion could effect our perceptions by altering how the information is taken in- If we’re very depressed or sleepy we might find events or stimuli different than if we’re not depressed/sleepy (ie, I find people with squeaky voices who speak very rapidly as extremely annoying if I’m bummed or tired, but If I’m in a good mood,had a red bull and am in go mode, I probably wouldn’t find them annoying.)
