How do door/window contacts work?
Contacts are simple read switches and magnets that send a signal to the control panel When contact is broken by the action of a door or window being opened or closed. It is always important to check your doors or windows to make sure they are completely closed, otherwise the zone with the open contact will cause the keypad to display “not ready”. Contacts are made to be durable and should last for quire a few years. However, if the door or windows being protected by the contacts are opened and closed frequently, the constant wear and tear on the contacts may require that a service call be made to repair or replace the contact.
