How do detergent tablets work?
The tablet is simply “powder” detergent that has been pressed into a small cake. Whichever kind of detergent you use goes into a covered holder so it can be released at the proper time in the cycle (much like a clothes washer is programmed to get the detergent, bleach, and fabric softener from their respective holding areas at the right time). The detergent mixes with the hot water and is sprayed in pulses on the dishes; the combination of water pressure and detergent cleans the dishes. Then the dishes are thoroughly rinsed, and then hot air is pushed over the dishes to dry them.
