How do depressions fit in with frontal rainfall and affect precipitation levels?
Atlantic Depression A depression consists of an area of low pressure moving from west to east. It has two fronts eminating from the centre that are the boundaries between cold and warm air. The leading front is the warm front and the trailing front the cold front. Because of air mixing at fronts this is where rainfall will occur. The heaviest rain usually occurs at the cold front along with the strongest winds that are shifting from westerly to north westerly.
