Tracking energy consumption using near real-time data from AMRs, however, allows them to develop a detailed load or usage “profile” for each facility that is equipped with an AMR system. These profiles can reveal times of peak energy consumption and chronic inefficiencies in operations, which not only waste energy but cost money. During certain peak consumption periods, customers may even be assessed a rate higher than otherwise, and not know it. With AMR information, PowerSpring customers can take appropriate actions to control costs. For example, shut down or curtail energy-intensive operations during peak consumption (or peak rate) times.
