How do corporate partnering deals differ from joint ventures?
True corporate partnering relationships are very much like joint ventures. This may take the form of establishing a joint venture company that is jointly owned by both partners. On the other hand, establishing a separate joint venture company is not necessary to have a corporate partnership. Many corporate partnerships consist of one or multiple contracts between two or more companies that establish relationships at many levels. One contract may govern product development or technology licensing. Another may cover joint marketing or distribution. Yet another may provide for an investment by one company in the other.
