How do convection currents form in air?
The guy above is correct. But there is one point that he missed that is important to understand. The air becoming less dense will not rise if it werent for gravity. The fact that there is gravity causes a pressure differnce that is based on the height. Without the pressure diffence the less dense air (which is casued by heating) would never rise.
